It was my first Enterprise Agile Transformation as an Agile Coach. An I.T. shop with nearly 300 people and 50 teams, supporting several hundreds of mission-critical apps. As a solution architect turned Agile Coach, I was drinking from a fire hose. More than fifteen years of living in the trench, writing and shipping code and even leading other Agile Teams, have not prepared me for what I was facing. The I.T. organizations were trying to catch up with the Application side of the house which has turned Agile a couple of years back. It was heart-wrenching to see the teams all caught up in a constant, never-ending stream of firefighting, zero-day security patches, and all-weekend deployments. I met people who have not gone on vacation for three years, just because some end-of-life critical system had only him to keep it alive.
I was looking for some inspiration for myself and these teams. Some first-hand accounts of similar Agile Teams that I could share with the teams to lift their spirit up and mine. But my search returned (almost) empty. While the web is awash with contributions from my compatriot Agile Change Agents – on Agile fundamentals, principles, and practices, I sorely missed the voices of the hundreds of thousands of Agile Teams – from the trenches – who were living it i.e. who have undergone or are undergoing Agile Transformation.
That’s what we want to capture in My Agile Day. Where the voices of practicing Agile Change Agents can mix with those of the Agile Teams, real stories of real people from the trenches, their case studies, and stories of courage, bravery, accomplishments, innovations, and lessons learned. All, as we together take on the pursuit of a smarter, better world of work.
Join us today and lend your voice.
